“...today Morsy completed the Egyptian revolution. Egypt is now an Islamic state.” So Muslim Brotherhood President of Egypt Mohamed Morsy just sacked the leaders of the military junta General Hussein Tantawi and the Egyptian Army's' Chief of Staff General Sami Enan. Morsy has also cancelled the constitutional protections that the Egyptian military has enjoyed and overturned their edicts circumscribing his control over foreign and military policy. That is, as the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has declared, today Morsy completed the Egyptian revolution. Egypt is now an Islamic state. Its leaders drink from the same well as al Qaida, Hamas and all the rest. Egypt, with its US armed military has reemerged after 30 years as the greatest military threat that Israel has ever faced. According the Israel media, the IDF was surprised by Morsy's move. Clearly our esteemed generals believed reassurances they received from their Egyptian military counterparts that Israel had no reason to be concerned with the election of Hamas's big brother to Egypt's presidency. This reminds me of what former chief of the IDF's General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said at the Jerusalem Post's conference in New York on April 29. In his remarks Ashkenazi said that no one in the IDF foresaw Mubarak's overthrow during the anti-regime protests in Tahrir Square. I began my remarks by mentioning that I had foreseen his overthrow and replacement by the Muslim Brotherhood already back in 2004. And like me, everyone paying attention to the internal make-up of Egyptian society -- rather than to the empty promises of generals with no popular support -- recognized that Israel's peace with Egypt was not long for this world. I am not saying this to rub Ashkenazi's nose in his massive errors. I mention it because the same general staff that failed to foresee what was going to happen in Egypt, and fails to this day to understand the strategic implications of the Muslim Brotherhood takeover for the IDF, is the IDF that insists today that Israel can trust Obama to take care of Iran for us. Sadly, perhaps even devastatingly, it is not possible for Netanyahu and Barak to pull a Morsy and fire the General Staff en masse. All of these leftist strategic failures enjoy the unstinting support of the leftist media. But still, their failure to understand Egypt speaks all the more strongly for the full justification and necessity of Barak and Netanyahu's current media campaign to force the IDF to fall in line on attacking Iran.

It's not as if the sacked egyptians generals were friends of Israel, or garants of peace, they were probably handsomly paid for "retire", and will, if they know, what's good for them, leave the country before they are accused of whatever. As to Egyptian/Israeli situation, Egypt is, and will be in the next years an economic basket case whithout means, or will to attack Israel. As to Iran threat, neither Obama, if reelected, nor Romney will lift a finger. The IDF is not, what is once was, so the only hope lies with Russia, who has means and tools to stop the mullahs, Irann's air defense is,after all russian made, and I can't imagine PM Putin being thrilled with nuclear armed maniacs on his backyard.
Actually, the IDF is the most powerful military in the ME. I think you will see them taking out Iran's nukes in the very near future.
While IDF may very well be the most powerful military in the ME, their achievments, not counting six day's war, are nothing to be proud of. Yom Kipur war in1973 was a near catastrophe, the to Lebanon wars and intervention in Gaza, nothing to write home about, last, but not the least, turkish flotilla, would you really trust people, who tried to stop a boat with commandos repelled from a helicopter with planning a complex military operation as an attack on Iran's nuclear sites is? I don't.
Yom Kippur was an unmitigated triumph.
The IDF defeated the combined forces of Egypt, Syria, Saudi arabia, Kuwait and Iraq.
That after a suprise attack!
The first lebanon war resulted in a resounding defeat for the PLO and their removal from Lebanon.
The second Lebanon war was a huge defeat for Hezbollah, from which they have yet to recover.
I know they called it a victory.
To them the death of lots of "martyrs" is a victory.
It WAS a convincing victory... for the IDF.
Plenty of Hamas were dispatched to hell in Gaza, I see that as a positive thing, and it was well done strategically.
The flotilla situation was not a war, it was a police action, I agree with the Israeli tactics, you don't.
The one thing you..inadvertantly..left out, which really is the most pertinent, is the IAF destruction of Iraq's Nuclear facilities.
It will be the same with the Persians.
BTW, you seem to be lacking in information about the IDF and Israel. You can learn a lot here at IsraelAmerica, you are welcome to browse the archives.

Usually you don't employ military ( flotilla) in police action, as to 1973, Israel owns it's survival to Richard Nixon, thanks to Golda Meir's folly there will not be a lady israeli PM for many years to come, as to Lebanon and Gaza, Ehud Olmert is probably the last israeli "civilian" PM. As saying goes, we are all entitled to our own opinions, but not to our own facts.
You are spending way too much time watching Al Jazeera.
The IDF often uses the military in police actions, Google "Israeli Raid on Entebbe" another IDF success story that I guess you are unaware of.
BTW, your hero Milhous referred to the Vietnam War as a "Police Action".
Israel owes it's survival to Nixon? LOL, I guess the Vietnamese do too..LOL.
Get a life pal, read a book, or do both.
You basically seem to have no real idea what you are talking about.
